Hon. M. Anthony Baker is a judge for the Cherokee County Superior Court in Georgia. He was elected to the bench in 2018.
Prior to his election, Baker sat as a judge for the Cherokee County Juvenile Court, a position to which he was appointed by the Cherokee County Superior Court judges in 2007. In addition, he sat by designation as a judge of the Superior Court.
Baker received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He went on to complete a J.D. at Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law. Baker was admitted to the bar in 1992.
After graduating from law school, he joined his late father, Elliott Baker, in private practice, where he remained until assuming the Juvenile Court bench. During his almost fifteen years as a general trial practitioner, Baker gained significant trial experience.
He also spent time as a municipal court judge for the cities of Canton, Holly Springs and Woodstock.
He has sat as a board member of the Cherokee County Educational Foundation, the Northside Cherokee Hospital Authority, and the Court-Appointed Special Advocates.
Baker and his wife, Tiffany, have two grown children.
He is a graduate of Cherokee High School.
Baker was born in Vietnam to an American father and a Vietnamese mother. As a result of the impending Communist control of the country, his mother arranged for him to be sent to America alone. Baker, who was eight years old when he fled Vietnam, was later adopted by Elliot Rice Baker and his wife, Ginnie.
