The Hon. Lynne M. Hobbs is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench in 2012 by former Governor Jerry Brown. She succeeded Burt Pines after his retirement from the bench.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Hobbs received her bachelor's degree from Spelman College. She went on to earn her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.
Prior to her appointment to the Superior Court, Hobbs was a deputy district attorney with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. She joined the D.A.'s office in 1995. In 2007 she left the office to enter into private practice but returned to the prosecutor's office in 2008.
She has lectured for the Women's Law Association and Government Law Organizations' Women on the Bench series in 2013, as well as for the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles' Criminal Justice Section in 2017.
