The Hon. Louie L. Vega is a judge for the Superior Court of Kern County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James Stuart.
Vega earned a B.A. from California State University, Bakersfield. He then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
He began his legal career in 1983. He first worked as an associate at Weiser Kane from 1983 to 1985. He then joined the Office of the Public Defender of Kern County, where he briefly worked as a deputy public defender. Then, in 1986, he returned to the private sector. He accepted a position as an associate at Young Wooldridge before starting his own private practice as a sole practitioner in 1988.
Vega was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the Superior Court of Kern County in 1990. He held this position until his appointment to the bench.
He is registered as a Democrat.
