The Hon. Lori R. Behar is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She succeeded Marjorie S. Steinberg in her appointment to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 27, 2012.
She is a registered Democrat.
Judge Behar received her B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, and went on to earn her J.D. from Loyola Law School in 1978.
Behar joined the law firm of Haight, Brown, and Bonesteel LLP in 1977 where she served in various capacities such as clerk, associate and eventually as a partner for the firm. She was with the firm for almost 30 years, until 2006 when she left to serve as a court commissioner for the Los Angeles Superior Court. She remained there until her appointment to the bench in 2012.
Some of her memberships include the Association of Southern California Defense Council where she holds the distinction of being the first woman to serve as president, the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation, Dispute Resolution Services, and the Litigation Section of the County Bar.
