Biography

The Hon. Lisa Hart Cole is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. She was originally appointed to the Municipal Court by former Governor Pete Wilson in 1996. Cole was elevated to the Superior Court in January 1999.

Judge Cole received her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1977. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1980.

After law school, Cole joined the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office in 1981 as a deputy attorney. She left the office in 1982 to join the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney. She was with the D.A.'s office for 14 years, until her appointment to the Municipal Court.

In 2016 Judge Cole was assigned to the state's talcum powder personal injury docket as the coordination trial judge. The Judicial Council of California Civil Case Coordination Proceeding decided that a coordinated docket was warranted since the number of complainants in the state had increased.
