Judge Lisa Ann Vandenberg - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

Hon. Lisa Ann Vandenberg is a judge for the Maricopa County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Doug Ducey in 2017.

During her judicial tenure, Vandenberg has held assignments in the Family, Criminal, Juvenile, and Probate Courts.

Prior to her appointment, she presided for twelve years as a commissioner of the Maricopa County Superior Court (2005 to 2017). Before that, Vandenberg worked as an attorney in the Legal Division of the Arizona Corporation Commission (2002 to 2005) and spent five years as a deputy county attorney with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office (1997 to 2002).

She received a bachelor’s degree in history from Lyon College in 1994. Vandenberg went on to complete a J.D. at Widener University, Delaware Law School in 1997.

She has sat as a member of the Judicial Education Committee, the Maricopa County DUI Therapeutic Court Steering Committee (chair), and the Maricopa County Domestic Violence Court Steering Committee (chair).

Vandenberg has also served as a volunteer for the American Friend Program (International Rescue Committee) and the Arizonans for Children’s Group Home Cooking Project.

She was a mentor and volunteer in the Law Practices class at South Mountain High School and spent time as an attorney coach and judge with the AzFLSe Regional High School Mock Trial Competition.

Vanderberg has been a member of the GWCC Council and Leadership West.
