The Hon. Leland Davis III is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Carol L. Mittlesteadt.
Davis earned a B.A. from Stanford University. He then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.
He began his legal career as a trial attorney in the Law Offices of Hunter and Anderson in 1984.
Three years later, he left the firm and joined the Office of the Public Defender of San Francisco County, where he served as a deputy public defender for the next sixteen years.
Then, in 2003, he returned to the private sector, working as a sole practitioner in his own private practice until his appointment to the bench.
Davis is registered as a Democrat.
