Judge Laurie R. Eiserloh - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Laurie R. Eiserloh is a judge for the 455th District Court in Travis County, Texas. She was elected to the bench on November 8, 2022.

Prior to her election, Eiserloh was a staff attorney for Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, a position to which she was named in 2021. Before that, she spent time as an assistant county attorney for the Labor and Employment Team of the Travis County Attorney’s Office (2010 to 2021).

Eiserloh earned a bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Texas at Austin in 1986. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1990. She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law and Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

After graduating from law school, Eiserloh began her legal career as the executive director of Equality Texas. She served in that capacity until 1993, at which time she became an assistant attorney general in the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

Then, in 1999, Eiserloh entered into private practice. She worked as an associate at Bickerstaff, Heath, Smiley, Pollan, Kever & McDaniel, where she represented private entities and government units in a variety of claims. Eiserloh remained with the firm for three years, eventually leaving to become a senior city attorney for the Austin City Attorney’s Office.

Her memberships have included the American Board of Trial Advocates. She has also been involved with the Board of El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission, the cold weather shelter at Trinity Center, and the Board of the Austin Center for Child Guidance.

Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Eiserloh is the daughter of a widowed schoolteacher who was a career-long member of her union. She and her wife, Jess, have two children. When not presiding over legal proceedings, she enjoys vegetable gardening and spending time with her free-range chickens.

She is registered as a Democrat.
