The Hon. Laurie MacLeod is an associate justice for the Orange District Court in Massachusetts. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Deval Patrick in 2009.
Over the course of her judicial career, MacLeod has held assignments as an associate justice of the Palmer District Court, the Holyoke District Court, the Northampton District Court, and the Orange District Court.
MacLeod earned a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College in 1978. She then completed a J.D. at Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1984.
After graduating from law school, MacLeod entered into private practice in New York City, working as an associate in the Law Office of Gustin Reichbach. She held this position until 1991, at which time she joined the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office as an assistant district attorney.
MacLeod left the District Attorney’s Office and opened her own private practice as a sole practitioner in 2004. She worked in this capacity until her appointment to the bench, spending two of those years as the Supervising Attorney for the Committee for Public Counsel (2007 to 2009).
She has taught in the Criminal Justice Department at Greenfield Community College.
