Biography

The Hon. Lauren P. Thomasson is a judge for the San Joaquin County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2005. At the time of her appointment, Judge Thomasson held the distinction of being the first African American woman to be seated on the San Joaquin County Superior Court.

She is registered as decline-to-state.

Judge Thomasson received her bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University. She went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Thomasson practiced as a deputy city attorney for thirteen years with the Stockton City Attorney's Office beginning in 1989.

Then, in 2003, she was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the San Joaquin County Superior Court. She would hold that position, until being elevated to the bench two years later.

She has also been a faculty member of Humphreys University Drivon School of Law.

While on the bench, Judge Thomasson has presided in the Criminal Division.

She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
