Judge Laura B. Barker - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Laura B. Barker is a judge for the Williamson County Court at Law No. 2 in Texas. She was appointed to the bench by the Williamson County Commissioners on June 7, 2016.

Over the course of her judicial career, she has held assignments in the Veterans Court and the DWI-Drug Court.

Prior to her appointment, Barker worked as an attorney in private practice, specializing in criminal and juvenile law.

Barker earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Southwest Texas State University in 1999. Then, in 2002, she completed a J.D. at St. Mary’s University School of Law.

She has served as president of the Williamson County Bar Association, co-founder of the Women Lawyers Section of the Williamson County Bar Association, as well as a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation.

Barker was raised in Austin, where she attended Bowie High School. She currently resides in Georgetown and is a member of Wellspring United Methodist Church.

She is registered as a Republican.
