The Honorable Kira L. Klatchko

The Hon. Kira L. Klatchko is a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former governor Jerry Brown in 2016. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Christian F. Thierbach (Ret.).

She is a registered Democrat.

Judge Klatchko graduated with her B.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. She also earned an M.B.A. from the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. She then received her J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law.

After law school, Klatchko joined her parent's law firm, where she worked as an associate for one year. In 2005 she joined Best, Best, and Krieger LLP where she served as an associate until being named a partner in 2013. While there, Klatchko would serve as founder and chair for the firm's appellate group. Then, in 2015, she went to work as a partner at Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard, and Smith LLP, where she would serve as vice chair of the firm's national appellate group. She was practicing at the firm at the time of her appointment to the Superior Court.

She has served as the past-president of the Riverside County Bar Association and served as chair of their Appellate Law Section. She also served as a volunteer mediator with the California Court of Appeal for the Fourth District.

Klatchko, who is a certified Appellate Law Specialist, has been a contributing editor of the Matthew Bender Practice Guide on California Civil Appeals and Writs and served on the California State Bar's Standing Committee on Appellate Courts.

She has also served on the board for Angel View, a non-profit organization that serves adults and children with disabilities.

In her free time, Judge Klatchko enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and cooking.
