Biography

The Hon. Kimberly Young Brown is a judge for the 254th District Court in Dallas County, Texas. She was elected to the bench in 2020 and re-elected in 2022.

Prior to her election, Brown was the managing attorney of her own private practice. She served clients in all areas of family law, including protective orders, divorce, custody, paternity, child support, and property actions in high conflict cases.

Brown earned a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College. She then completed a J.D. at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law.

After graduating from law school, Brown spent time as a staff attorney for Lawyers Against Domestic Violence and Legal Services of North Texas. She was also a state attorney for the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services.

Her memberships have included the boards of Anna’s House and the Dallas Chapter of Jack & Jill. She also attends Greenville Avenue Church of Christ.

Born and raised in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Brown currently resides in Desoto with her husband and children. Her father is a retired police officer, and her mother is a retired nurse.
