The Hon. Kimberly Merrifield is a judge for the Superior Court of Butte County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on November 17, 2015, filling a vacancy created by the passing of the Hon. Denny R. Forland (deceased).
Merrifield earned a B.A. in political science from California State University, Chico in 1990. She then completed a J.D. from Cal Northern School of Law in 1994.
She began her legal career as an associate in the Law Office of Robert A. Glusman in 1995. She practiced there for seven years, eventually leaving when he was appointed to the Superior Court of Butte County. She spent the remainder of her legal career stitching together a series of contracts with different institutions. She worked as an attorney for the Oroville Office of the Self Help Assistance and Referral Program, the Legal Services of Northern California, and the Office of County Counsel of Butte County.
She is registered as a Democrat.
