The Hon. Kim Cooks is a judge for the 255th (Family) District Court in Dallas County, Texas. She was elected to the bench in 2014 and re-elected in 2018.
Cooks earned a B.S. in biology, medical technology, and business management from the University of Texas at Arlington. Then, in 2002, she completed a J.D. at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Cooks started her own private practice as a sole practitioner, specializing in divorces, child custody, child support, child protective services, and juvenile matters.
When not presiding over the bench, Cooks enjoys training for amateur bodybuilding competitions.
Cooks is registered as a Democrat.
