The Hon. Kerry R. Bensinger is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench in December of 2011 by former governor Jerry Brown. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Dennis A. Aichroth (Ret.).
He is a registered Democrat.
Judge Bensinger received his B.A. from Yale University in 1982. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law in 1987.
After graduating from law school, Bensinger became a deputy federal public defender for the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Central District of California.
He served in that capacity for four years, until he left in 1991 to become an associate at the law firm of Quinn, Kully, and Morrow. He practiced there until 1995 when he became a founder and partner for the Pasadena law firm of Bensinger, Ritt, Tai, and Thvedt. He was serving in that capacity at the time of his appointment to the Superior Court in 2011.
In 1988 Bensinger wrote an article for the Loyola Law Review on the subject of the California court's role as it pertains to the general relief program.
