The Hon. Kerry L. Neves is a judge for the 10th District Court in Galveston County, Texas. He was elected to the bench in 2012 and re-elected in 2016.
Prior to his election, Neves worked as an attorney in private practice for thirty-three years, specializing in personal injury, products liability, toxic torts, asbestos, business disputes, real estate, and malpractice matters. During this time, he held positions in a small law firm as well as a large law firm. He has also worked as a sole practitioner.
Neves earned a B.B.A. in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 1975. Then, in 1978, he completed a J.D. at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
His memberships have included the Dickinson City Council (1998 to 2012), the Galveston County Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. He has also served as president of the Dickinson Historical Society and the Dickinson Festival of Lights as well as chairman of the Houston-Galveston Area Council Board of Directors and the Galveston County Republican Party.
Neves is a recipient of the Community Service Citizen of the Year Award (2007) from the North Galveston County Chamber of Commerce.
Born and raised in San Angelo, Neves served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972. His wife has served as the District Math Coordinator for the Dickinson Independent School District.
He is registered as a Republican.
