Biography

The Hon. Kerri M. Lopez is a judge for the Tulare County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. She filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James W. Hollman (Ret.).

She is a registered Republican.

Judge Lopez received her B.S. from California State University, Fresno. She went on to earn her J.D. from the San Joaquin College of Law in 1998.

While attending law school, Lopez served as an intern with the Tulare County District Attorney's Office. After graduating from law school, Lopez accepted a full-time position there as a deputy district attorney in 1999. During her tenure with the D.A.'s office, she would rise through the ranks, being promoted to second in command in 2016. Lopez was serving as the assistant district attorney for Tulare County at the time of her appointment to the Superior Court in 2018. While there, Lopez helped prosecute child abuse and sex crime cases.

Judge Lopez' father, the Hon. Ronn M. Couillard was also a Tulare County Superior Court judge until his retirement in 2007.
