The Hon. Kendall J. Newman is a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division. He was appointed to the District Court in 2010.
Judge Newman received his B.S. from Cornell University in 1980. He went on to earn his J.D. from the College of William and Mary Law School in 1984.
Prior to his appointment to the District Court, Newman had served as an assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California since 1995. Before joining the Eastern District, he had been an assistant U.S. Attorney with the Southern District of California from 1990 to 1994.
Before entering the public sector, Newman practiced at the law firm Gibson, Dunn, and Crutcher LLP from 1984 to 1990.
