The Hon. Kelley A. Paul is a judge for the Santa Clara County Superior Court in California. She was appointed to the bench by Governor Gavin Newsom on August 8, 2022, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. James Stoelker.
Prior to her appointment, Paul was the Supervising Attorney of the Research Division of the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office, a position to which she was named in 2021.
Paul earned a bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University. She then completed a J.D. at Santa Clara University School of Law in 1998.
After graduating from law school, Paul began her legal career as a research clerk with the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office. During her tenure there, she rose through the ranks, holding assignments as a deputy public defender (1999) and a supervising attorney (2009).
Paul was a resident of Los Altos, California, at the time of her appointment.
She is registered as a Democrat.
