Hon. Kathryn E. Creswell (Ret.) was a circuit judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois in DuPage County. She was appointed to the position by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2001. Creswell retired on November 30, 2017.
During her judicial tenure, she was elected by the circuit judges of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court to serve as its Chief Judge in September 2014. Before that, Cresswell was the Presiding Judge of the Felony Division. She first joined the bench as an associate judge in 1995.
She received a B.A. from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1981. Creswell went on to complete a J.D. at DePaul University College of Law in 1984. She was admitted to practice in Illinois (1984) and Michigan (2016).
Creswell served as the presiding judge of the Statewide Grand Jury in Northern Illinois and was a member of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Commission on Professionalism, the Committee on Illinois Evidence, the e-Business Policy Advisory Board, and the Special Supreme Court Committee on Capital Cases. She also served on the Illinois Judicial Benchbook on Criminal Law Committee.
