Biography

The Hon. Katherine A. Feinstein (Ret.) served as a judge for the Superior Court of San Francisco County in California. She was appointed by former governor Gray Davis in 2000, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Lee Baxter. She retired from the bench on December 31, 2012.

Feinstein earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She then received a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Feinstein served as a deputy city attorney for the Office of the City Attorney of San Francisco. During her tenure there, she oversaw the prosecution of child abuse and child neglect cases for the San Francisco Department of Human Services. Feinstein has also served as a deputy district attorney for the Office of the District Attorney of San Francisco County.

Feinstein served as a police commissioner for the San Francisco Police Department as well as the director of the Criminal Justice Council for the Office of the Mayor.

Feinstein is the daughter of United States Senator Dianne Feinstein.
