The Hon. Kaleb V. Cockrum is a judge for the Superior Court of Humboldt County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Marilyn B. Miles.
Cockrum earned a B.S. from Andrews University. He then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2002.
He began his legal career as a deputy public defender in the Office of the Public Defender of Humboldt County in 2004. He served in that capacity for thirteen years, after which time he joined the Office of Conflict Counsel of Humboldt County as its supervising attorney. However, his time there would be brief. The following year, he was quickly selected to serve as the interim public defender for the Office of the Public Defender of Humboldt County, a position he held until his appointment to the bench.
Cockrum is registered without party preference.
