The Hon. K. Dennise Garcia is a judge for the 303rd (Family) District Court in Dallas County, Texas. Garcia first joined the bench in 2004. As such, she is one of the countys longest-serving family court judges.
Garcia earned a bachelors degree in sociology and political science from Southern Methodist University in 1990. Then, in 1993, she completed a J.D. at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.
After graduating from law school, Garcia entered into private practice. She first worked as an attorney at Ron Massingill (1993 to 1995) and Goranson, Bain & Larsen (1995 to 2003). She then started her own private practice as a sole practitioner in 2003.
Her memberships have included the Annette Stewart American Inn of Court, the Dallas Bar Association, the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association, the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers Domestic Violence Committee. She has also sat on the Board of the Wesley-Rankin Community Center and the Perkins School of Theology.
She is a recipient of the Merrill Hartman Judicial Pro Bono Service Award (2006). She is also Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Garcia was born and raised in Dallas County. She is married to Rev. Eric Folkerth, a United Methodist Minister.
She is registered as a Democrat.
