Biography

The Hon. Judith Abrams (Ret.) served as a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. Abrams was initially appointed to the Los Angeles Municipal Court by former Governor George Deukmejian in 1986. She was subsequently elevated to the Superior Court upon court unification in 2000.

Abrams earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University in 1960. She spent the next several years working as a social worker before completing a J.D. at the University of West Los Angeles in 1977.

After graduating from law school, Abrams began her legal career as a deputy city attorney for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. She served in that capacity until 1979, at which time she became a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Then, in 1983, she was named commissioner for the Los Angeles Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Superior Court.

She retired from the bench on April 30, 2005.
