The Hon. Joshua A. Mize is a judge for the Florida Sixth District Court of Appeal. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on January 1, 2023.
Prior to his appointment, Mize was a judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit Court, a position to which he was named in 2021. Before that, he was a sole practitioner in his own private practice (2018 to 2021).
Mize received a bachelor’s degree in history and finance from the University of Florida in 2007. He went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law, in 2010. As a law student, he sat as an editor of the Florida Law Review.
After graduating from law school, Mize entered into private practice in Tampa. He started as an attorney at Bush Ross. Then, in 2012, he moved to Akerman. He remained with the firm until 2015, at which time he joined Morris, Manning & Martin. Over the course of his legal career, Mize litigated complex commercial disputes, intellectual property disputes, and consumer protection cases in federal and state courts.
His memberships have included the Orange County Bar Association and the George C. Young American Inn of Court.
Mize was a resident of Winter Park, Florida, at the time of his appointment.
