Hon. Joseph L.Cushner is a judge for the Bulloch County State Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by Governor Brian Kemp in March 2020.
Prior to his appointment, Cushner was the elected Solicitor-General for Bulloch County since 2017. He was serving as an assistant solicitor-general there at the time of his election.
Before that, Cushner worked for six years as an assistant district attorney for the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit (2010 to 2016).
He received a B.A. in political science from the University of Georgia in 2006. Cushner went on to complete a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 2010. While a law student, he was an intern for Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (2007) and the Cobb County District Attorney (2008) as well as a legal aide for Lieutenant Governor Case Cagle (2009) and a third-year prosecutor for the Rockdale Judicial Circuit District Attorney (2009 to 2010).
His memberships have included the Georgia Association of Solicitors General. Cushner is also a member of the Leadership Bulloch Class of 2012.
Cushner was named one of the Statesboro Herald’s 20 Under 40 in 2013.
A native of Statesboro, he and his wife, Leslie, have two children.
