The Hon. Joseph C. Scott is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2003.
Scott earned a bachelor’s degree from Brown University. He then completed a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
He began his legal career in 1977. He first worked at Eshoo, Scott and Sullivan, where he practiced for six years. Then, in 1983, he was selected to serve as an arbitrator for the Superior Court of San Mateo County. He held this position until his appointment to the bench.
Scott was publicly admonished by the Commission on Judicial Performance after being convicted of drunken driving charges.
