The Hon. Jonathan S. Fish is a judge for the Superior Court of Orange County in California. He was appointed by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Dennis Choate.
Fish received a bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College in 1991. After graduation, he joined Teach for America, where he served for two years as a teacher in the Houston Independent School District. He then earned a J.D. from California Western School of Law.
In 1996 Fish began his legal career as a deputy district attorney with the Office of the District Attorney in Kern County. Then, in 1998, he served as a Deputy District Attorney with the Office of the District Attorney in Orange County, a position he held until his appointment to the Superior Court of Orange County in 2008. As a deputy district attorney, Fish specialized in the prosecution of major narcotic and gang cases. These cases ranged from general misdemeanors and felonies to gang murders and methamphetamine laboratories.
During his tenure with the Office of the District Attorney in Orange County, Fish was named Prosecutor of the Year by state and county law enforcement agencies. He has also received awards from the Drug Enforcement Agency and Orange County Human Relations.
Fish has worked as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Whittier Law School as well as a Lecturer at Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law.
He is registered as a Republican.
