Biography

The Hon. John J. Curran, Jr. (Ret.) was first justice of the Leominster District Court in Massachusetts. He joined the bench in 1990. Curran retired in 2010.


During his tenure on the bench, he presided as first justice in the Leominster District Court for seventeen years.


After retiring, Curran taught as a law professor at New England Law School.


He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Providence College in 1966. Curran then completed a J.D. at Suffolk University School of Law in 1969.


Prior to joining the bench, he worked as an assistant attorney general and was chairman of the Massachusetts Parole Board. Curran also worked as a public defender at the beginning of his legal career.


He and his wife Christine have three children.
