Judge John H. Ing: Professional Background and Legal Expertise

The Hon. John H. Ing was a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He retired July 15, 2023. He was appointed to the bench in 2007 by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. He filled the vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Otis Wright.

Judge Ing received his bachelor's degree from the University of Southern California. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1977.

After graduating from law school, Ing became a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where he served from 1979 to 1983.

He then entered into private practice in 1983. While in private practice, Ing became a court referee for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 1989.

He remained in both capacities until becoming a court commissioner for the Superior Court in 1997. He was serving as a court commissioner at the time of his appointment to the bench in 2007.
