Biography

The Hon. John D. Sutula is a judge for the General Division of the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas in Ohio. He was elected to the bench on November 7, 2000.

Sutula earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University Chicago in 1973. He then completed a J.D. at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1976.

After graduating from law school, Sutula entered into private practice. He started as an associate in the Law Office of Robert I. Zashin. Then, in 1981, he became a partner at Zashin, Rich & Sutula. He remained a partner at the firm, which was subsequently renamed Zashin, Rich, Sutula & Monastra (1985) and Zashin, Rich & Sutula Co. (1991), until 1994. At that time, he opened his own private practice as a sole practitioner.

He is registered as a Democrat.
