Biography

The Hon. John D. Freeland is a judge for the Stanislaus County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008.

He is a registered Democrat.

Judge Freeland received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to earn his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.

Prior to his appointment to the Superior Court, Freeland spent his entire legal career in private practice. He had been a shareholder with Curtis and Arata since 1998 and was a sole practitioner from 1996 to 1998. He also served as a junior partner at Williams, Romanski, Polverari, and Skelton from 1988 to 1996. He was an associate at Ericksen, Arbuthnot, Kilduff, Day, and Lindstrom Inc. from 1986 to 1988 and with Roberts and Moore from 1985 to 1986. He also practiced as an associate at the Law Offices of Loraine Wallace briefly in 1985, with the Law Offices of Roger Neathery for one year, and with Halston and Clark for one year.

While on the bench, Judge Freeland has presided in the Civil Department at the City Towers Courthouse in Stanislaus County.
