The Hon. John B. Ellis is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009.
He is a registered Republican.
Judge Ellis received his B.A. from the University of California, Davis. He earned a D.D.S. from the University of California, San Francisco. Ellis then graduated with his J.D. from Boston College Law School.
Ellis worked in private practice from 1993 to 1996, during which time he was an associate at the law firm Larson and Burnham.
He left the firm to accept a position as a deputy district attorney with the Solano County District Attorney's Office. In April 2009, Ellis was elevated to a chief deputy district attorney. He remained in that capacity until his appointment to the Superior Court later that same year.
During his time on the Superior Court, Judge Ellis has served as the Presiding Judge for the Juvenile Division, an Assistant Presiding Judge and in 2018 was confirmed to become the Presiding Judge of the Court.
