The Hon. Joe R. Diaz is a judge for the Northeastern Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court in Georgia. He was appointed to the bench by a panel of superior court judges in 2015, filling a vacancy created by the resignation of the Hon. Robert A. Weber.
Diaz is the first person of Latino descent to serve as a judge in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit.
Prior to his appointment, Diaz was an attorney in private practice. He was the founder of the Law Offices of Joe Raymond Diaz in 1992. The law firm provided bilingual representation to clients, specializing in domestic and criminal litigation. He supplemented his practice with service as a mediator for the Ninth District.
Diaz earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and government from Duke University in 1989. He then completed a J.D. at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1992.
His memberships have included the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board.
A longtime resident of Hall County, Diaz enjoys listening to the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, and Simon and Garfunkel.
