The Hon. JoAnn M. Bicego is a judge for the Superior Court of Siskiyou County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on December 23, 2016, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Donald R. Langford.
Bicego earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She then completed a J.D. from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1989.
She began her legal career as an associate at O’Connor, Cohn, Dillon and Barr in 1989. Five years later, she accepted a position as an associate in the Law Office of Larry J. Arkfeld. Bicego worked in that capacity for the next eight years, eventually becoming a named partner in 2002. Over the course of her legal career, she specialized in civil litigation defense, handling products liability, medical products, and blood products matters.
Then, in 2006, she left the private sector in order to serve as deputy county counsel. During this time, she provided legal advice to county departments, the board of supervisors, and school districts, handling its contracts, claims, and litigations. She rose to acting assistant county counsel in 2009.
Just prior to her appointment to the bench, Bicego served as a court commissioner for the Superior Court of Siskiyou County from 2009 to 2016.
She is registered without political party preference.
Her husband is a workers compensation attorney.
