The Hon. Joan P. Weber is a judge for the Superior Court of San Diego County in California. She was initially appointed to the San Diego Municipal Court by former governor George Deukmejian in 1990. She was then elevated to the Superior Court of San Diego County by former governor Pete Wilson in 1994.
Weber earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University. She then received a J.D. from the University of Arizona in 1981.
She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Hon. J. Clifford Wallace of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1980. The following year, she started working as a civil litigation attorney with a Phoenix-based law firm, where she handled commercial, securities, and antitrust cases.
Then, two years later, she joined the Office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of California as an assistant U.S. Attorney. She held this position until her appointment to the bench.
Weber has served as president of the California Judges Association and has been a member of the American Law Institute.
She is a recipient of the Pursuit of Justice Award from the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
Weber was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio.
