The Hon. Jesus (Jesse) I. Rodriguez is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the Municipal Court by former Governor Pete Wilson on November 13, 1997.
Judge Rodriguez immigrated to the United States from Cuba as a teenager.
Rodriguez received his bachelor's degree in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach. He went on to earn his J.D. from Northrop University School of Law, Inglewood.
Judge Rodriguez clerked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office until he was named a deputy district attorney for the same office. In 1985 he became the Torrance assistant city prosecutor and was ultimately named city prosecutor in 1991. In 1985 Rodriguez became a court commissioner for the Downey Municipal Court. He remained there until his appointment to the bench in 1997.
Rodriguez served as assistant presiding judge in 1998 and 1999 and was subsequentially named a presiding judge for the same court in 2000.
Judge Rodriguez was named Judge of the Year by the Southeast Bar Association.
