The Hon. Jennifer L. Espino is a commissioner for the Pima County Superior Court in Arizona. She was appointed to the bench on March 4, 2021.
Prior to her appointment, Espino was the acting deputy attorney general for the Tohono O’odham Nation Office of the Attorney General. In that capacity, she represented tribal government employees, elected officials, and appointed committee members, handling federal Indian law matters. Before that, she was an assistant attorney general for the Tohono O’odham Nation, representing tribal departments and individual Native American adults and juveniles in administrative proceedings, tribal and state courts, and public hearings.
Espino earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, and Latin America studies. She spent the next several years working as a financial auditor with the Office of the Arizona Auditor General before completing a J.D. at the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in 2005.
Her memberships have included the Indian Child Welfare Act Committee on the State, Tribal, and Federal Court Forum. She has also volunteered with Wills for Heroes, the Volunteer Lawyers Program, and the Disabled American Veterans Legal Clinic, and she has served as the Writing Program Coordinator for the Arizona Minority Bar Association.
