The Hon. Jeffrey R. Finigan is a judge for the Superior Court of San Mateo County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown on July 16, 2015, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Stephen M. Hall.
Finigan earned a B.S. from the University of California, Davis. He then completed a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1993.
He began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Office of the District Attorney of San Mateo County in 1994.
Six years later, he left the public sector, accepting a position as a senior associate at Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble and Mallory LLP.
Then, in 2004, Finigan joined the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California. He served there for seven years, eventually leaving to complete a brief stint as investigative counsel for the Office of the Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
Just prior to his appointment to the bench, Finigan returned to the Office of the District Attorney of San Mateo County as a deputy district attorney.
Finigan is registered without party preference.
