Judge Jeffrey Prevost - Professional Background & Legal Expertise

Biography

The Hon. Jeffrey Prevost (Ret.) was a judge for the Riverside County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2006. He retired from the bench in 2018 and his vacancy was filled by the Hon. Cheryl C. Murphy.

Prevost graduated with his B.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1968. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1971.

Aside from the bench, his legal career included working in both public and private practice. Prevost first worked as a deputy district attorney for the Riverside County District Attorney's Office for eight years beginning in 1972.

He then ventured into the private sector, where he would practice for twenty years. During that time, Prevost served as an associate at Wilson, Borror, and Dunn, and a partner at the law firms of Van Hulle and Prevost as well as at Erickson, Arbuthnot, Kilduff, Day, and Lindstrom. He ended his time in the private arena practicing as an attorney for three years at the Law Offices of Charles Doskow in 1997. During his time in private practice, Prevost specialized in civil law which included personal injury, products liability, legal malpractice, and business practice cases as well as insurance defense.

Then, in 2000, Prevost was selected to serve as a court commissioner for the Riverside County Superior Court. He would remain in that capacity until his appointment to the bench in 2006.
