The Hon. Jeffrey G. Bennett is a judge for the Ventura County Superior Court in California. He was elected to the bench on June 3, 2008. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Bruce Clark (Ret.).

Judge Bennett graduated with his B.A. in criminal justice from California State University, Sacramento in 1978. He went on to earn his J.D. from the Santa Barbara College of Law in 1988.

Bennett became a deputy sheriff for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department after graduating from college in 1978. Two years later, he became a police officer for the University of California Police Department.

After graduating from law school, Bennett joined the Ventura County District Attorney's Office as a deputy district attorney in 1989. Before becoming a Superior Court judge, Bennett devoted his entire legal career to working for the Ventura D.A.'s office. He started out in the Auto Insurance Fraud Unit before being named a supervisor of the Major Fraud Unit in 1993. Then, in 1994, Bennett was appointed to serve as a chief deputy district attorney in charge of the Bureau of Investigation. Later, he would become responsible for the Child Support, Administration, and Special Prosecution divisions. He held the role of chief deputy district attorney until being elected to the bench fourteen years later.

He was named the Knights of Columbus Prosecutor of the Year in 1990 and in 2002. The Ventura County District Attorney's Office named him their Prosecutor of the Year in 1990.

While on the bench, Judge Bennett has presided over criminal trials, preliminary hearings, civil and law and motions calendar.

He is an amateur astronomer.
