The Hon. Jeffrey C. Kauffman is a judge for the Solano County Superior Court in California. He was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in 2018. He filled the vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Paul L. Beeman (Ret.).
He is registered without party preference.
Judge Kauffman received his B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. He went on to earn his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.
Kauffman spent his entire legal career, outside of the bench, working as a prosecutor. He first worked briefly as a deputy district attorney for the Shasta County District Attorney's Office in 1995, before going to work as a deputy in Solano County. During his twenty-three year tenure there, Kauffman would rise to the position of chief deputy district attorney in 2011. Some of his assignments at the Solano County District Attorney's Office included the felony trial team, as well as the homicide, sexual assault, preliminary hearing, and misdemeanor units. He remained with the Solano County D.A.'s Office until his appointment to the Superior Court in 2018.
Judge Kauffman was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His mother immigrated from Vietnam and his father was a career officer in the U.S. Navy. Because of his father's service, they lived in Japan and the Philippines before finally settling in California.
