Biography

The Hon. Jeanine B. Nadel is a judge for the Superior Court of Mendocino County in California. She was appointed to the bench by former Governor Jerry Brown in May 2012, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Ronald Brown.

Nadel earned a B.S.L. from Western State University. She then continued her studies at Western State University College of Law, completing a J.D. in 1981.

She began her legal career in 1982. She first worked as an associate at Anderson & Bauman and Beam & Brobeck, two Orange County-based law firms.

Then, in 1989, she left the private sector, accepting a position as a deputy public defender in the Office of the Public Defender of Mendocino County. She served in that capacity until 1990, quickly moving to the Office of County Counsel of Mendocino County. She served as deputy county counsel for the next fifteen years, some of which was spent in the Office of County Counsel of Alameda County. At the time of her appointment to the bench, she had advanced to county counsel in the Office of County Counsel of Mendocino County.

Nadel was born in Casa Blanca, Morocco. She has volunteered with the Ukiah Players Theatre as well as the School for Performing Arts and Cultural Education.

She is registered as a Democrat.
