The Hon. Javier Alcala is a judge for the Superior Court of Santa Clara County in California. He was appointed to the bench by former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2010, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of the Hon. Jack Komar.
Alcala earned a B.A. from Santa Clara University in 1977. He then continued his studies at Santa Clara University School of Law, completing a J.D. in 1982.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Alcala served in the Office of the District Attorney of Santa Clara County from 1983 to 2010. During his tenure there, he handled a diverse range of cases, everything from sexual assault to murder.
He is registered as a Republican.
