Hon. James T. Anthony is a judge for the Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania. He was elected to the bench on November 6, 2007.
Anthony received a B.S. from St. Joseph’s University in 1980. He went on to complete a J.D. at Creighton University School of Law in 1983.
After being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1981, he served in both active duty (1984 to 1987) and reserve status. Over the course of his military service, Anthony spent time in Okinawa, Japan (1984 to 1985) and Iraq (2004 to 2005 and 2006 to 2007) and was the officer-in-charge of the Peacetime-Wartime Support Team for Marine Aircraft Group-49 in Willow Grove. Anthony retired holding the rank of Colonel in 2009. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in 2005.
His legal career included working as a full-time assistant district attorney with the York County District Attorney’s Office (1987) and a part-time assistant district attorney in Lehigh County (1989 to 1999). Then, after working as staff counsel for two insurance companies, he engaged in the private practice of law for nineteen years.
In addition to his private practice, Anthony acted as a hearing officer and special master.
His memberships have included the Lehigh County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Anthony has also held a membership with the American Legion, Post 106 and sat as a board member of the Lehigh County Historical Society.
He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bethlehem Township. Growing up, his father worked as a kiln and turbine operator and foreman at Atlas Cement in Northampton.
Anthony is registered as a Republican.
