Biography

The Hon. James Rush is a judge of the 244th District Court of Ector County. He was appointed to the bench in 2011 by Governor Rick Perry. He was then elected to the seat in 2012 and re-elected in 2014 and 2018.
Before pursuing a legal career, Rush graduated with a B.A. from the University of Texas. He then went on to earn his J.D. in 1980 from the South Texas College of Law.
Before taking the bench seat, Rush worked as an attorney specializing in civil litigation for the firm Rush, Kelly, Morgan, Dennis, Corzine and Hansen.
In addition to his services to the court, Rush is a member of the State Bars of Texas and New Mexico and is the president of the Odessa Family YMCA Board of Directors. In addition, Rush was the former president of the Ector County Bar Association and has served in the U.S Marine Corps. In his free time, Rush is a volunteer judge for the Odessa Teen Court Program.
Rush is a registered Republican.
