The Hon. James R. Dabney is a judge for the Los Angeles County Superior Court in California. He succeeded the Hon. Thomas R. Simpson upon his appointed to the bench by former Governor Gray Davis in 2002.
Judge Dabney received his undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach. He earned his J.D. from the Whittier College School of Law where he graduated first in his class. During his time at Whittier College, Dabney founded the Latino Prosecutors Association and served as editor-in-chief of the school law review.
Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Dabney worked as Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
