Biography

The Hon. James Petrucelli is a retired judge formerly of the Superior Court of Fresno County, California. In November 1998 he was first elected to the bench and he was re-elected in 2016. He retired from the bench in 2019 and was replaced by the Hon. Heather Jones.

Judge Petrucelli received his undergraduate degree from California State University, Fresno and earned his J.D. from the San Joaquin College of Law in Clovis California.

Before he was elected to the bench Judge Petrucelli was a Sheriff’s Deputy for fifteen years and a civil lawyer for nine years. He had also served on the Kerman School Board and as a fire district trustee.

During his time as a judge, Petrucelli was a controversial figure. He has been disciplined four times since he was first elected to the bench.
