Biography

The Hon. James D. Arnold (Ret.) was a judge for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court in Hillsborough County, Florida. He was elected to the Circuit Court in 1990 and re-elected in 2008. Arnold retired from the bench in 2015.
He graduated with his B.S. in economics from the University of Tampa in 1970. Arnold went on to earn a J.D. from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law in 1973.
Prior to his election to the Circuit Court, he had served as a judge for the Hillsborough County Court since 1986.
While on the Circuit Court, Arnold presided in the General Civil Division.
He served as chairman of the Hillsborough County Canvassing Board and was a member of the HRS Alcohol, Drug Abuse and Mental Health Advisory Board.
